Keep running TikTok campaigns for your telehealth or direct-to-consumer health brand. We take the TikTok Pixel off your pages, and Hippo cleans each order and sign-up before it sends TikTok a conversion from its server. Hippo also keeps its own record of which campaigns bring customers, in an account you own.

TikTok publishes no BAA for its ad products (as of 10/13/26). Under TikTok's Business Products (Data) Terms, you may not share data you know, or should reasonably know, includes health information.
Data terms
TikTok's data terms bind every advertiser that uses its Pixel or Events API(opens in a new tab), so a cash-pay telehealth brand answers to the same rule on health information as a clinic.
What it sends
The TikTok Pixel reports the ad a visitor clicked, the IP address, cookies, page details and button clicks from the pages it runs on. With Automatic Advanced Matching(opens in a new tab) on, it can also capture what visitors type into sign-up, contact and checkout forms.
Server route
Sending TikTok events from your own server keeps you under the same terms: using the Events API(opens in a new tab), you agree not to share sensitive data with TikTok.

Sent
Hippo sends TikTok only the conversions you allow, from its server and under neutral names. Hippo waits for consent where it is required.
Excluded
Names, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth and IP addresses, plus URL paths and anything typed into a form.
Held
An event Hippo doesn't recognize stays in Hippo, so a new form can't start sending to TikTok on its own.
Kept
Hippo stores what it records in its own storage under the BAA it signs with every customer, with a log of what Hippo sent TikTok and what it removed first.

The insurance broker settled claims that the Meta Pixel and TikTok Pixel on its website disclosed the information people entered for insurance quotes to Facebook and TikTok. The court entered its final approval order(opens in a new tab) in July 2025.
Settled, no amount disclosed
The direct-to-consumer telehealth company settled claims that tracking tools on its LifeMD and RexMD websites disclosed visitors' health information to Meta, Google and TikTok. The court granted final approval(opens in a new tab) in September 2025.

Under TikTok's data terms, you may not share data you know, or should reasonably know, includes health information(opens in a new tab), and the terms cover the TikTok Pixel and the Events API alike. TikTok publishes no BAA for its ad products. The BAA you sign with Hippo covers Hippo. TikTok is outside it, and Hippo controls only what it sends TikTok. Hippo cleans each conversion before it sends it to TikTok from its server, and no TikTok Pixel runs on your pages.
Not with Hippo. We take the TikTok Pixel off your pages, with the store app or tag template that installed it, and no ad pixel or Google tag runs on them. Tools you keep, like a scheduler or a payment form, keep their own code. A page that isn't about care is still a page the Pixel reports: the ad a visitor clicked, the IP address, cookies, page details and button clicks(opens in a new tab). Under TikTok's own rules, the Pixel stays off pages where you may share personal health information.

We take the TikTok Pixel off your pages, with the store app or tag template that installed it, and install Hippo on a subdomain of your domain. Tools you keep, like a scheduler or a payment form, keep their own code.
You pick which conversions Hippo sends TikTok, such as orders and sign-ups, and the name each one goes under. A name like "GLP-1 checkout" would tell TikTok the treatment, so each name implies no condition, treatment or service.
When a customer who clicked your TikTok ad orders or signs up, Hippo removes the details listed under Excluded below before the conversion goes to TikTok.
Hippo sends it from its server to your TikTok ad account, which we connect during setup, and keeps its own record of it by the campaign that produced it.
I see so many medical and government sites that really shouldn't be running third-party trackers. Yet almost every single time I check, they are.

The FTC, California and Utah allege that the telehealth company shared users' health information with advertising platforms, and their complaint(opens in a new tab) lists the TikTok s2s Pixel among the pixels on its website.

Federal employees allege that the TikTok Pixel(opens in a new tab) on the association's FEP Blue website sent TikTok the pages they viewed, including health topics they researched. In August 2026 the court let the California wiretap claim go forward(opens in a new tab).

A patient alleges that Musely, a telederm prescriber, embedded the TikTok Pixel and the Facebook Pixel on its website and disclosed users' medical information to TikTok and Meta. In August 2026 the court let her California wiretap, constitutional privacy and medical-confidentiality claims proceed(opens in a new tab), and the case is paused for mediation.

Patients allege that tracking on Opencare, a website where people find dentists, sent their searches for dental treatment, booking information and insurance details to Google, Meta and TikTok, and the second amended complaint(opens in a new tab) names the TikTok Pixel.
All six name TikTok's pixel, or TikTok as a recipient of tracking, on the organization's own website.

Not by itself. TikTok's rules apply to the Events API and the Pixel alike: using the Events API(opens in a new tab), you agree not to share sensitive data with TikTok. Sending a conversion from a server changes the route and leaves what it carries as it was. Hippo sends conversions from its server through TikTok's Events API too, and cleans each one before it reaches TikTok: names, emails, phone numbers, dates of birth and IP addresses come off first, and each conversion carries a name that implies no condition, treatment or service.
TikTok's systems are designed to filter out the prohibited data they can detect, and you remain ultimately responsible for the data you share(opens in a new tab). Under HIPAA, a tracking vendor's promise to remove PHI after receiving it(opens in a new tab) is not enough. Hippo cleans each conversion before it reaches TikTok, and logs what it sent and what it removed first.
If TikTok detects potentially prohibited data, you may receive a notification(opens in a new tab) by email, in the Diagnostics tab of Events Manager or in TikTok Ads Manager. Sharing prohibited data violates section 2.8(opens in a new tab) of TikTok's data terms, and reviewing what your integration sends is your responsibility. With Hippo, the TikTok Pixel comes off your pages and each conversion Hippo sends TikTok carries a name that implies no condition, treatment or service. What TikTok detects and what it does next are TikTok's decisions, and Hippo has no part in them.
We do. Whoever controls your domain adds a DNS record for your Hippo subdomain. We install Hippo, take the TikTok Pixel off, connect Hippo to your TikTok ad account and set up the conversions it sends. Your agency keeps running the campaigns in TikTok Ads Manager.
It can. TikTok removes duplicates(opens in a new tab) only when two events share the same event name and event ID, so two senders reporting the same purchase can both count. During setup we take the TikTok Pixel off, with the store app or tag template that installed it, and turn off the other connections that send TikTok the same conversions. Hippo counts the orders and sign-ups that happen on your website.
TikTok's rules do. Its data terms bind every advertiser that uses its Pixel or Events API, whether or not HIPAA applies. HIPAA does not cover health information people enter into mobile apps(opens in a new tab) that are not offered by or for regulated entities, and the FTC Act and the FTC Health Breach Notification Rule may apply instead. Washington's My Health My Data Act bars sharing consumer health data(opens in a new tab) without the consumer's separate consent, unless the sharing is needed to provide a product or service the consumer asked for. Either way, we take the TikTok Pixel off your pages, and Hippo sends TikTok only the conversions you choose, under neutral names.
No. In the US, prescription medicine ads may run on TikTok with proof of approval(opens in a new tab) from regulators such as the FDA, and pharmacy ads may need certification from groups such as NABP or LegitScript. Those decisions belong to TikTok, the regulators and the certifiers, and Hippo does not get ads approved or replace LegitScript. Once those ads run, Hippo records which campaigns bring your orders and sign-ups.
Yes. For a covered entity or business associate, tracking on pages where people log in generally has access to PHI(opens in a new tab), and Hippo runs there under your BAA, so it can count a purchase completed after a customer logs in. No ad pixel or Google tag runs on those pages.
Yes, if you want to know how these laws apply to your business. This page describes TikTok's terms, laws and court cases for general information and is not legal advice. Hippo handles the tracking; an attorney can advise you on your obligations. Hippolytics is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by TikTok.
